Japanese Cultural Activity/ Fall Semester 2010

 Hope everyone enjoyed cultural activities and study breaks

I would like to write what I organized as a study break in fall 2010 becauese I did not write about study break in the previous semester.

９月：お好み焼きとたこ焼きづくり/ September: Cooking Okonomiyaki (Japanese Pizza) and Takoyaki (Ocutpus dumpling)

１０月：どら焼きを食べながら、どら焼きをたべる/October: Eating dorayaki (redbean pancake) while watching Doraemon (Japanese popular cartoon)

１１月：白玉団子をたべる/November: Eating Shiratamadango (Japanese flour dumpling with redbean)

１２月：年越しそばをたべる・日本のボードゲームをする/ December: Eating Japanese New Year’s Noodle and playing Japanese boardgames

今学期もいろいろと楽しいことを企画してます！ぜひ、みなさん参加してくださいね！

I’m planning many cultural activities and interesting study break.  Please join activities !  That will be great oppotunity for you to improve your Japanese and deepen your knowledge of Japanese.

Happy New Year!!

I’m sorry I did not write this brog.  This semester is the final semester for me as a language resident.  So I would like to use this blog flequently.  If you have any comment or suggestion, please send it. 

Before beggining this semester, I would like to hold a welcome party in Japanese hall.  If you take Japanese course at Pomona, please come to the party and talk about your winter vacation.

Japan’s signing of a Joint Declaration on Security Cooperation with Australia in 2007 and a similar

declaration with India in 2008 symbolizes Tokyo’s new approach to managing national security in a

strategically fluid international environment. These are the only two security frameworks that Japan has

signed outside its security treaty and alliance relationship with the United States. The presentation

explores why Japan has pursued closer security links with Australia and India at a time of considerable

geostrategic uncertainty in world affairs and how it might affect Japan’s security relations with the

United States.

Purnendra Jain is Professor of Japanese Studies in the Centre for Asian Studies at the University of

Adelaide in Australia. Author and editor of 10 books and numerous scholarly articles, his book
